(Lee County, FL) Since it began operations in 1994, the high-tech Lee County Resource Recovery facility, has converted more than 5 million tons into clean electricity and residual ash that takes up about 10 percent of the landfill space that would have been required by the unburned garbage. Today, county officials will cut the ribbon on a third combustion unit.
