Orlando, Covanta’s president and chief executive officer, discusses how the Energy-from-Waste industry may earn carbon credits in a New York Times article published on March 26. In the story, Mr. Orlando is quoted saying that each ton of waste combusted would have otherwise been buried in a landfill where bacteria digest garbage to make methane, a potent greenhouse gas.
