Burney Mountain Power

Burney Mt. Power
Burney California

Burney Mountain Power began commercial operation in 1984, generating renewable energy from biomass (wood waste). The facility processes 288 tons per day of biomass, which generates up to 11 megawatts of energy that is sold to PG&E. Burney Mountain Power makes use of the Best Available Control Technology (BACT) to minimize emissions. In addition to wood waste, Burney Mountain Power also accepts greenwaste from the local community. The facility is located in Burney, a small community about 55 miles northeast of Redding in the Cascade Mountains.

Burney Mt. Power is applying for membership in the EPA’s National Environmental Performance Track Program (NEPT). In the future, this site will contain a link to the Burney Mt. Power Annual NEPT Performance Report. Burney Mt. Power is committed to sharing information with the community.
